I’ve never been much of a stickler for New Year’s resolutions. I generally try to go into a new year with an idea of what I’d like to improve and accomplish. This year my goals are mostly broad and not totally fleshed out, but revolve around two pursuits: get organized, and do more of what I love. I know neither of these things is going to be very easy with four kids, three of who are special needs,1but I’ve decided to be totes chill about it and take small steps. Like using my planner again and blogging again.

How does blogging keep me organized? Well it offers me a bit of accountability and an outlet. I always have a lot of ideas for crafts and recipes and adventures and I tend to get stuff for them and then just forget about it. My blog always gave me a place to be creative and expressive and share with others, so if I buy a bunch of supplies for a craft and then start to feel myself not following through I can tell myself, “yo what about that blog post?”

Also, my planner. I have 600 rolls of washi tape and I’m going to be using them in 2018. I love planning, but I rarely make time for it because it seems like there’s always so much more to be doing and when I do have a free moment it’s easier to fall into a video game. Planning again and regularly falls into both categories for 2018, getting organized and doing more of what I love.

I’m in a vertical Happy Planner still because I bought an 18-month one back in September. It’s a jump from my horizontal Erin Condren, but I’m liking it. There’s a lot about this spread I don’t love, mainly that I used too many stickers and didn’t leave myself a lot of room for writing, but I was trying out new stuff with the my stickers and washi and transfers and I had fun doing it. Embracing imperfection, another kind of sort of resolution. Also I need to get better at photographing my planner, and using my DSLR more definitely falls into “do more of what I love.”

What are some of your resolutions for 2018?

I’m jealous of people with pretty planners like this! I did buy one for the new year, so we’ll see how I go with using stickers and stuff! LOL

    • I’m jealous, too, because usually I do not have a pretty planner 😆 Hopefully 2018 is the year I finally use all of this planner stuff.

  • Congrats on your baby!!!!! Best part of a new year is setting up a new planner, I’m trying to balance mommy life with design, work and etsy ;o; a planner can be a live saver!

    Happy New Year!!

    • Thank you for the congratulations! Striking a balance can be so difficult, I definitely agree that a planner helps with that.
