In March Andrew and I announced we’re having our fourth child! Super exciting stuff. I’m due in late June and we’re only a little bit panicky. Most people think once you have so many kids1 it just all comes easily, but I’m going to tell you the honest truth: it doesn’t. Never. Maybe after like 10, or if you’re better parents than us, but in our experience every baby and their needs is different. A lot has changed since our first birth and this one, but the nervous excitement bordering on delirious ramblings about life choices isn’t one of them.

I just entered my third trimester and I’m finally getting around to kind of, sort of, maybe planning the nursery. That’s definitely something that has changed. Claire’s nursery was done before I even finished my second trimester. Logan’s was as well, because first boy. Julia’s nursery was done about four months after she was born, but up until that point it wasn’t even used for anything more than storing all of the baby paraphernalia. Like the other three she slept in her bassinet in our room for the first few months – it’ll be the same with this one – and I learned with Julia that it really doesn’t matter if the nursery is done by the time they arrive. My number one tip for preparing for baby: get the essentials and chill. All the other stuff will get done. The first month or two is a blur or poop and no sleep anyways.

I fell in love with Aden + Anais’ pink and gold foil blankets and sheets and muslin swaddles, then based the entire idea for the nursery around them. I love the idea of a pink and grey nursery with starbursts and other celestial motifs.

I love this theme! It’s gorgeous! I am not a parent, but I can see how difficult it is and I’m sure you will be great with this new little one in the family.
