One of the classes I’m taking this semester is a photography class. I had enrolled in a film photography class, but there wasn’t enough interest and the class was cancelled. Of course I didn’t find this out until last Wednesday right before I was getting ready to leave for the class. I wanted to check online to make sure I had the room number right and realized I’d been dropped. Of course the only other photography class that could fit into my schedule was a Tuesday class, so I’d already missed the first class. Awesome, not.

So last night I went to class, I didn’t have the 30 landscape photos that were assigned the first class or my textbook (because as I found out when I got there I had the Introduction to Photography textbook, where as this class was Introduction to Digital Photography). My professor is really awesome and she said that was fine, to take my textbook back to the bookstore to get it exchanged and bring my 30 landscape shots in next week with my 30 light/shadow shots.

We did an overview of importing, sorting and rating our photos in Bridge. I sat quietly and nodded along, as the professor pointed out to those of us she could tell were already very familiar with the program the course is an introduction. I helped the woman sitting next to me. She was older and had a great D90 but little computer skills. Apparently she has been a photographer for years and was just now moving away from film and into the digital era. She showed me some of her film work and it was amazing.

Our lab hours for our class are 5-10, but actual class is only 6-9 at the latest. I showed up at 5 because I wasn’t there the first day to know that, but that’s okay because class was short and we were out at 7:45.

I’m hoping to get down into the Catawba Valley this weekend to get some great landscape shots, maybe even up to the Blue Ridge Parkway. I have no idea what I’m going to do for light/shadows, give me some recommendations!

P.S.: My Done pinboard has grown to 17 pins. Score!

Pinterest combines everything I love about discovering things on StumbleUpon with everything I love about having all of my bookmarks in one place on Delicious with all of the pretty pictures of Tumblr. It’s like crack for me. I can’t stop pinning. I have 49 Boards and 3036 pins. It’s a sickness! A totally, ridiculously awesome sickness. Like Dave’s Syndrome.

Anyways, to counteract my overwhelming need to pin I’ve decided to stop playing Dragon Age: Origins for the 12th time and actually start doing stuff. That’s kind of the point of pinning a ridiculous amount of recipes, crafts and home improvement ideas, isn’t it?

So I’ve given myself the goal of completing at least 20 pins before the end of 2011. It’s a small goal, and with the holiday coming I hope I’ll blow right by it, but I decided to definitely start small. If I had just gone with my first instinct my goal would be to utilize all of my pins before the end of the year, plus another 3,000 that I’ll probably pin before New Year’s. It’s the type A in me, I want to do a ton of stuff, but my procrastination gene tends to overwhelm all of that.

Behold my Done pinboard. So far home to 6 pins (Okay, so two of them are mine and from this very blog, but I’ve still done them!), I’m 30% closer to my goal.

Right now I’m making our dinner calendar for 8/28 – 9/10 and I’ve decided I’m going to make all new recipes every night for the next two weeks. I’m really excited right now because the 28th is forever away. I’m pretty sure come the 31st I’ll rue the day I decided to be productive and want to just go back to playing Dragon Age. Help me resist and become master (Mistress, technically?) of my pindiction!
