As Claire is getting older I find myself in a bit of a pickle. I always told myself I would say yes to her whenever possible (about finger painting on the floors, not cars and cellphones), I wasn’t going to restrict her or stifle her creativity. I was also going to use cloth diapers and breast feed until two and make all of her toys and clothes and only feed her locally grown organic food.
I was confused by the overwhelming amount of cloth diaper brands and the disparity between them. I wasn’t able to breast feed Claire due to a prolactin deficiency. Making clothes is a lot harder that it seems, and I don’t have time to figure out how to make plastic and mold it into something bright and flashy that plays terrible music and will keep her attention for a few minutes. We do try to by local food at the Blacksburg Farmers’ Market, but I’m a little wary of asking some of the farmers if their food is organic. I just don’t want to get into that, “What’s organic?” conversation again. When farmers refuse to take your money for a pound of heirloom tomatoes, there’s a problem.

Babies
My aunt, my older sister, Claire, Logan and I went to the Reston Zoo last week. While there we saw:

Goats! Including baby ones, which are the best.
