Oh the weekend ahead of us. Friday afternoon we’re heading up to northern Virginia to see my family and go to a Memorial Day barbecue on Saturday. We’re leaving from there early Sunday morning to go to Andrew’s grandfather’s lake house on Lake Gaston for his birthday party cookout on Sunday. Then Monday morning we’re headed to Durham, NC (which we’d be passing through on our way home via I-85) where my older sister lives to visit the area until Tuesday. Just a lovely 736 mile tour of Virginia!

We’re hoping to leave early enough Friday and be on the road Tuesday/Wednesday to avoid all of the holiday traffic. Sunday morning is pretty much the only time we’re going to spend more than an hour on the road during the holiday weekend1 and we’re praying I-85S doesn’t turn into an outright brawl on the shoulder. Andrew drives like a wuss and I have serious road rage issues, put the two of us in the car during heavy traffic and we turn on each other. It’s redirected aggression at it’s finest. Can’t strangle the motorist that just cut you off? Go ahead and make fun of your partner for the way they say “tractor”. I DON’T SAY IT FUNNY! YOU JUST HEAR IT FUNNY BECAUSE YOU SUCK!

Anywho, by the time we get home next week I’ll be ready for a coma and an IV drip of World of Warcraft. Alas, it is not to be. I’ll be heading straight back into work and school. I started back to school this past Monday for the summer semester. It’s been okay, I’m taking two classes: CSC 110 and Math 111. Both are prereqs so I can start taking classes I actually want to this fall. I’m working towards a degree in Web Developement, and I’m still deciding whether I want it to be a BS and be more development/programming oriented or if I’m more interested in a BA and working design and front-end stuff. Both aspects certainly interest me and I don’t feel like they’re mutually exclusive. I’ve already felt out the market place and I can still get a job in design with a BS and it wouldn’t be a stretch to get a job in programming with a BA. It’s really more of a question of what do I want to study for the next few years? Right now I’m leaning towards BS, but that’s because my creativity has completely dried up and I feel like I’m pulling teeth to make anything even remotely decent looking lately. Don’t run into those problems with numbers.

  1. It’s about 5 hours from northern Virginia to Lake Gaston on the North Carolina border with two babies. []
